Internships

We have been successful in securing funding to provide opportunities for potential Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) undergraduates as well as Modern Foreign Language specialists to experience teaching chemistrycomputingmathematicsmodern foreign languages or physics before committing to teaching as a career. 2026 subjects could be subject to change.

The 3-week programme, starting on Monday 23 June 2025 is aimed at 1st and 2nd year (or penultimate year) students who may have not considered teaching as a career option but who would like to find out more. Successful candidates will be paid £300 per week and will be hosted within Ringwood School, All Saints Academy (Weymouth), Oak Academy (Bournemouth) and Twynham & The Grange Schools (Christchurch).

This programme will offer undergraduates the chance to gain a deep experience of teaching and will include:

• A combination of teaching, helping with experiments and inspiring future STEM experts.

 • Structured training, shadowing and lesson observation followed by a chance to jointly plan and deliver lessons.

• One to one mentors who are experts in their specialism.

• Opportunities to network with qualified subject specialists and find out how rewarding a career in teaching would be.

Should interns then decided to apply for teacher training, they will have continued contact with their mentor for guidance and support to make an application.
